"Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away." James 4:14

BOOM! I had hoped that I had more time, but suddenly I was done. This time of the year my Granddaddy’s old Ford 5000 tractor gets more of a work out than it does the rest of the year.  With any old equipment, there is always going to be problems. This year when I was starting to plow our garden up, I noticed that the right front tire was very dry rotten. Now when I say very, I mean that I could see the inner tube through the peeling sidewall of the tire. I knew that it wasn’t going to last long, but I was hoping that it would allow me to get the garden broken up, and it did. The next day as I went back out to run the garden rows, I was hoping to get just a few more minutes out of that tire. Once again, the tire held up. Earlier this week I went back to the tractor to run the sweeps down the rows to help get rid of some of the weeds. I held my breath, and the tire held up. The last project that I needed to get done was to mow the cow pasture. “Tire, just please make it through this last task and then I will get it replaced, I promise”, little did I know that you can’t reason or bargain with a tire. I made it about two hours into the six hour job. Then I heard it, BOOM! I had hoped that I had more time, but suddenly I was done. When I first heard the noise, I thought it was a gun shot. No, I thought to myself, that sounded more like I had run over an aerosol paint or hairspray can. I looked down and the right front tire has disintegrated.     My time was suddenly up. The day that I hoped wasn’t coming so soon, suddenly had.

Many people live their lives facing eternity the same was that I faced that tire. I knew that it was going to have to be replaced, but I didn’t want to think about it. Maybe I will think about it tomorrow. Some of you as you are reading this, or maybe you have loved ones that are putting off having a relationship with Jesus. You know that you need to, but you are waiting. Scripture is clear; the only way to have our sins forgiven is through Jesus. The only way to have eternal life in heaven is through asking Jesus to be our Lord and Savior.  Please do not put it off any longer. If you look through the Obituaries, you will see people that hoped that they would have another day here on Earth, but they don’t. None of us knows what tomorrow or even the next few minutes will bring. Scripture says that our life comes and goes like a vapor. Ask Jesus to be your personal Lord and Savior and have the security of knowing when your time is up, where you will spend eternity.
